About Viraj Mahida
Viraj Mahida is an internationally acclaimed artist whose creative mastery finds its truest form through the medium of paper. Her work spans a diverse range of techniques—from Origami and Filigree to Acrylics, Tanjore, Watercolors, and Sketching—earning her recognition in the India Book of Records and the title of one of the Top Five Artists of the World at World Art Dubai 2017.
Viraj’s artistic journey has taken her across continents, learning from global masters—including a blind Japanese Origami expert whose mentorship profoundly shaped her perspective. Her creations range from intricate, small-scale works to large public installations, such as the Flag of Unity Project at The Arabian Centre Mall (UAE), a commissioned piece for the Rajkot Collectorate, and an Origami caricature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Driven by purpose beyond aesthetics, Viraj uses her art to advocate for human rights and cultural preservation. She has collaborated with Eyes Open International, supporting survivors of human trafficking, and taken part in global awareness campaigns at institutions like the Underground Railroad Museum in the USA.
Currently working between India, Japan, New Zealand, the USA, and Dubai, Viraj also partners with INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) to help preserve India’s artistic legacy. Her work is a powerful fusion of tradition, innovation, and global connection—transforming paper into stories that speak to resilience, identity, and unity.
PaperAutograph is Viraj Mahida’s personal artistic signature—a reflection of her belief that art is not just a form of expression, but a powerful tool for connection and healing. Beyond aesthetics, she has applied her art in therapeutic settings, using it to support individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, bring comfort to the elderly, and engage with children on the autism spectrum. Through her work, she demonstrates how creativity can foster emotional well-being, stimulate memory, and create moments of joy for those who need it most.
